The 5 channel remote control has a range of up to 60 feet with no obstructions. 25-30 feet in a multi-room environment. Remote operates at 315 MHz. The remote is powered by one 12V A23 battery (INCLUDED). This battery is found at most major retailers and is often used in cameras and garage door remote controls.

The best feature of this system is it's expandability. A nearly unlimited number of sockets may be added -- both lamp and wall outlet. For example, by buying this set along with 2 additional remote controls, 3 additional wall outlets and 3 remote controlled lamp sockets, a user could place one lamp socket and 2 wall outlets in the bedroom and set them all to be controlled by Channel 1. Then place 2 lamp sockets in the hallway to be controlled by Channel 2. Then place the remaining 4 wall outlets in the living room to be controlled by Channel 3. The user than controls light and electricity in 3 areas of the home or office. This arrangement leaves 2 unused channels for future expansion

Also, multiple remote controls can be used to control the same wall outlet or light socket. For example, buy three remote controls to operate your basement ceiling light sockets. Simply set all of the remote controlled light sockets to operate on Channel 1. Then keep one remote in the kitchen, one in the bathroom, and one in the bedroom. Pressing "1 Off" on any of the remotes will turn off the all of the lights set to Channel 1.
