INDIUM Metal Element Teardrops 10 grams 99.999%
INDIUM Metal Element Teardrops 10 grams 99.999%  INDIUM Metal Element Teardrops. Quantity is 10 grams . 99.999% Technical grade purity. The indium is in teardrop form. The heads measure about 1/8". Average length is about 1/2 inch. Those measurements are stated as averages, as some pieces are larger and smaller. Materials analysis and certification available upon request.

Indium is Atomic Element No. 49 on the periodic table of elements. Indium is a very soft and very lustrous silvery metal.

Indium is distinguished by a low melting point of just 313 Fahrenheit. Indium has limited but interesting uses. Indium will wet glass, and is used to create mirrors with the quality of silver, but more resistant to corrosion. Indium finds use as a soldering agent and as a component of low melting point alloys. An alloy of 24% indium and 76% gallium is a liquid at room temperature. Indium is also used in alkaline batteries to prevent the buildup of hydrogen gas in the sealed container.

One fast growing use of indium is as a component Indium tin oxide (ITO). This alloy containing around 75 percent indium, acts as a colour filter in LCD and plasma displays for flat screens. The growth in production of flat screen TVs has led to a doubling in demand for the alloy. And supplies of indium have been shrinking for the past several years, leading to higher and higher prices for this element.
